Drove by the site of the old Blacksville #1 mine last evening and Dunkard was a creamy white. Lots of folks working the area putting out absorbent floats and they appeared to be building a barricade on the side that used to house the mine. Does anyone know what the release is? Who or what is responsible?
Lets hope this is a very minor incident and Dunkard can continue regrowing. |

You should contact DNR and DEP asap to make sure they know and it wasn't just the company working to clean something up before it got bad.

Bentonite clay was the "lubricant" that was spilled when a pipeline was being installed under the creek. By no means in this good news, but its much better than I initially thought when i heard the word lubricant. Sounds like there shouldn't be too much impact other than cloudiness and maybe some short-term local sedimentation.

| Noticed a similair problem on Buffalo ck. (Brooke) a year ago last spring. No fish kills were noted but the water was a heck of a sight. |
