On Saturday Oct.5 hiked down Gentle Trail and fished the Canyon. CFS about 10-13. Walked down stream about 1/4 mile and fished back up to the falls. Obvious low water required stealth. Did find some deep pockets and that’s where the fish were found. Had to get deep with nymphs and streamers. No top water action. Thanks to all in this string that provided information and guidance.

How about a few details on what you found? Did they look like recent stock trout, fingerlings that grew up, or maybe a combination?

@Headwaters: thanks for checking in. I just attached two photos. The brown in my hand is one of several caught in the Canyon Oct. 5, 2019. Got this one down deep on a cone BH black leech-type dragged along the bottom. Caught several more including some on BH Hare’s Ear nymphs with extra split shot. Lost several flies on the rocks down deep fishing this way, but it yielded catches.

That’s a nice chunky brown fish :)
Wonder if it’s from the fingerling stocking they did through the fire house a few years back lol

Does anyone know if they are continuing the fingerling stocking?  Is it a yearly stocking, or only a one shot deal several years ago?  Thanks

They’ve dumped fingerlings in there for a few consecutive years at least.

It seems the results of doing so are positive.  That is a healthy looking brown in his photograph - and he didn't have to venture to far below the falls to catch fish.
