I was up that way today for a project we have going on at Blackwater Lodge, and I saw some guys fishing that place in some pretty stained looking water.  Looked like they were bottom fishing from the 5 seconds I could see them.

Do they stock that stretch/pond/dam?

It looks to me like the kind of place that would hold some panfish, maybe bass.  Probably could support a handful of pike/pickerel if they were introduced.

Does that place have a name?

That’s North Fork of the Blackwater and I believe it’s stocked. It flows below Thomas, picks up a big slug of AMD water from a tributary, turns orange, flows over the famous Douglas falls, then enters the Blackwater River. Not sure about pike but guessing it has largemouth and sunfish.

Some old ponds in the Thomas Davis area hold some sizeable largemouth.

In my hometown. I have fished there an uncountable amount of times. They stock it once a month, but it holds trout year round. It also has very good bass and crappie fishing. When we were kids we would fish the lower section, pre sewer plant, and catch tons of fish. That raw sewer seemed to make the fish thrive.

Thanks for the info guys.  I have seen it before and wondered, I just never thought to ask on here.  Looks like a good place for the yak!

Just google mapped it, and the area.  Need to so some exploring before I get too old.  What is that Pendleton Pond/lake thing?  Is it fishable?  I never realized there was much more there than blackwater falls.

Switching gears from warmwater pond fishing, can a person back country/hike in camp down in the canyon? Is there a lot of private land or does it kid of transition from state park to national forest?

Pendleton has bass and channel cats. As for the canyon, tough hiking and no overnight camping in the park section. Private land is non-existent in there.
