5-6 inches near the Greenbrier/Nicholas line. Compacting quickly so I'm hoping for a quick melt off.

We are having some fantastic winter weather this spring.

Don't know if this helps or not...probably not, and you folks are probably sick and tired of some guy living in Minnesota complaining about the weather, but I'm sure about to lose my mind here as well. Know you're not alone!

Our AVERAGE high right now is 54.  If it really reaches 50 on Thursday it will be the second time in 2018.  And if it really snows a foot this weekend I'll probably have a breakdown.

About 50 miles south of the Canadian border on Upper Red Lake.  This lake is always my first ice fishing trip of the season for what that's worth.  They're still seeing areas of ice 4 to 5 feet thick on Lake of the Woods up on the border with minimums over 40 inches, and we've got between 2 and 3 feet left on the Twin Cities Metro lakes. I had my boat out on April 11th last year on lakes that were completely iced out.

I flew into Minneapolis last Tuesday, where they got 8”. Not sure how you all put up with that wintry weather for so long throughout the year!

This has been one that won't give up.  It's common to have ice and snow into March, but this year is decidedly different.  The Army Corps of Engineers posted a photo of a barge breaking ice on Lake Pepin on the Mississippi River yesterday headed towards Saint Paul. (Lake Pepin basically just a big wide natural "lake" in the Mississippi just south of Red Wing of boot and shoe manufacturing fame).  The photo was accompanied by a caption that suggested this is the latest start to navigation since they began keeping records in 1969.

If there was no snow in West Virginia there would be no trout. Think of it that way.
