I always usuallly highball the score too much cause I get excited when I see the antlers. So this time I'm low-balling hoping it will even out..haha....

Score = Big Enough

Who cares what he scores. If it is a buck you want to take, shoot him! Very nice looking buck.

i'm gonna guess around 125. if brow tines were bigger it'd bump up some more, along with a little more mass. he's a pretty good buck!

I'm with Rick. He's a shooter and score doesn't matter that much. If he scored 124 7/8ths would you be disappointed? I will say that 8's are harder to add points up with than 10's.

Good luck.

It'd be pretty dang hard to let that one go. Who knows what it will score but I'm with TopRod, prolly 130's. I'm also with Rick---it's a nice buck, shoot it!

125-130. That's a great buck overall. great length, spread, and pretty decent mass

130 ish.  Put him on the ground then worry about score.  TV has made sooooo many of us into this score deal.  That is a trophy buck.  Kill it, take it to TopRod, he will score it and then make you a nice "trophy" to have forever!

I was also thinking 130ish.  I've killed one 8 point and one 9 point that both score 125 and feel he is a little better.  He's definetley a nice buck and a shooter in my book.  Maybe I can post a more accurate score in about a week and a half.

very quickly....

if his ears are 14 inches tip to tip

17" spread

18 inch beams

3.5" g-1

10.5" g-2

7" g-3

3.75 C-1

3.5 c-2

3.25 c-3

116 inches...prolly lowballing i'd give it mid 120's, he lacks mass and beam length to score really high, heck  shoot him  i would not pass him up...next year if he slides by, he will be 150ish, maybe 160.

I'm guessing 17" spread
Decent tine length
Not a lot of mass
8 Pt

I'm going to guess 128-130

Not to dispute your score, but you missed 2 mass measurements.  All deer 8 points and better get 4 mass measurements.  So even if it is only 2 inches on each side, that will bump your estimate up 4 inches putting him at 120.

Also, for some comparison, this buck scored 132.

No way that buck scores in the 130's. He's lacking mass and tine length.  Thats about a 110"-115" eight point. As for the original post, He's pushing 130" prolly closer to 125".

I was wanting to say something but didn't. I'll agree though. My buddy killed a 10pt this year that was way bigger than the deer pictured and it only went 141...Just my opinion though.

Ok, let me start by saying that I am a certified scorer for SCI, so I do know what I am doing.  I rescored this buck today and the total was 129 and change.  This is a huge bodied buck from Kansas with a 25 inch neck with an 8 inch nose to eye measurement, so the pics may have thrown you guys off a little.  Here are the measurements.

Beams   21.5        21.5
G1           3.5           5
G2            9             9.25
G3            6.5             7
H1          4.5            4.75
H2            3.5            3.5
H3             3.5               3.5
H4             2                 2
Spread               18.75

Total              129.25

Also, did anyone else notice the nontypical point at the base of the left antler of the buck in the trail cam pic?

25 inch neck is HUGE. I gave Keith a 23.5 and I thought it was a really big cape.

Scores are nice guys, but don't get caught up in em.

I knew that buck wasn't lacking too much mass.. just looking at the picture i could tell he had a massive neck which is what was throwing people off. .that deer's body must've been HUGE!! great deer. Since we r talking scores, i brought mine in to the ffa big buck contest one year to get it scored (unofficial) but they scored it at 127. What do you guys think? i kno the angle makes it tough, but his mass was what helped him the most. they taped it at an 18 inch spread. I knew he would make around 110-115 but they scored it at 127.

Yeah I agree. No real reason to get caught up in scores too much. I have shot 1 buck that made it into the higher 130's---biggest buck I've killed and maybe ever will. It's not far off from the pic that Bowhunter posted. Looks very similar, just need more mass.

My best actual buck hunt though and my personal best trophy in my mind came on a 100-110 or so 8 point--never tried to score it. The reason it was so rewarding is because I was actually hunting that buck. It was not a traveling buck in rut, cruising farms looking for does that happened to walk near my stand. I scouted this one and then hunted in his core area and it's the only time so far (knock on wood) that Ive done that and had it actually work out as planned. I've tried a few other times to hunt a mature bucks core domain, but one mistake and it's pretty much over. I'm onto a very mature bucks core area this year, but I've stayed out of it. I know where it is, but I've been setting up in a funnel hoping to catch it chasing does. I finally got a real good look at i the other day actually--I was getting worried that poachers may have got it. It is a monster, and if I even manage get it in bow range i will view it as an accomplishment in this area.

I thought the deer would go around 122", but what do I know. Rick was right, it's big enough.

Wish I could have reported the real score boys but I struck out in Illinois.  What hurt us the most was the warm weather and most of the crops were still standing.  Saw some rutting activty but if anyone is going to be there this week it should be perfect.  Saw several bucks but not what I was looking for.  My buddy had a 140 class come in on him while he was setting up his trail cam before he got in his stands.  He was sick, he said if he hadn't set his camera up that he would have been in his stand with a 15 yard shot.  I guess thats hunting, maybe next year.

Yep, the weather has helped to strike me out in Indiana and Ohio so far. A lot of corn is still up everywhere.
